When Warren Buffett and his Berkshire Hathaway investment division are the kingpins behind a development you know something big is probably brewing. And this is a TEXAS SIZE development and investment that will have far reaching tentacles not only on the immediate North Texas cities of Plano, Lewisville, Carrollton, The Colony and Frisco but the whole of the DFW Metroplex.

The estimated $1.5 Billion project will be a 433 acre development off of 121 between Main Street in The Colony and Spring Creek Pkwy in Plano. It is purported to bring 8,000,000 visitors a year through this venue.

During the construction phase about 4,000 construction jobs will be realized and upon opening 2,000 plus jobs will be added initially. Nebraska Furniture Mart will have a 560,000 sqft retail showroom and a 1.3 million sqft distribution center.

To date there have been no other retailers announcing their intent to be a part of the mass retail community on this 433 acre development. As noted by executives of Nebraska Furniture Mart who are charged with the overall development, they believe this will happen closer to the time the store itself is completed.

Their message to potential tenants is:

CRITICAL MASS of shoppers to the new store will draw traffic along the 1.7 miles of frontage on 121.

Needless to say with new housing subdivisions in the process of being developed in Plano, Lewisville, Carrollton, The Colony and Frisco will reap the benefits. The Nebraska Furniture Mart development will certainly draw a contingency of new homeowners moving into this area.

If you are relocating from out of state or moving from within the DFW Metroplex, this location could be ideal for you. There are already major local and national corporations established in the Plano area.

You can find homes for sale within a 2 mile radius of Nebraska Furniture Mart here.
