Dallas Real Estate and it’s surrounding suburbs are growing fast and furious.

This week we’ve met with several developers, builders and investors about exciting new developments and homes that will soon be available in
Plano and other suburbs.

In a conversation with a Preston Hollow builder, who perceived value of the Midway Corridor (those homes west of the Dallas Tollway) as lesser homes than – let’s say “Willow Bend”.

So, being a resident and real estate aficionado of the area, I got a tad offended than stated my case for the Midway Corridor in Far West Plano.

Nothing could be farther than the truth! Here’s Why…

Homes were built the same time as Willow Bend & Windhaven (90’s) with the same fine custom builders.

  • The topography is the most beautiful and mature.
  • It is away from the traffic and quite.
  • There are many different subdivisions at all price points.
  • Arbor Hills Nature Preserve, Hills at Prestonwood Golf Course
  • Presbyterian Hospital of Plano.
  • Less than 1 mile from the Shops at Legacy

And here’s the scoop, the best value are these neighborhoods for appreciation. All are located east of Midway and the tollway, Homes are priced well between $299K and $425K (give or take a bit) and all are in West Plano Schools. Excellent for resale!  You can search all active homes for sale in the Midway Corridor.

West of Midway you will find higher end neighborhoods, but the schools vary from street to street in each one. Schools are important for resale whether you have kids or not.  You can always find all the listings by Neighborhood on this site and insight about the community. West of the tollway is still growing and flourishing by leaps and bounds – new homes are starting at 500K.

  1. As a long time resident of Plano who moved from Willowbend to Cypress Point, far west Plano is a much better value. Builders were great, there are homes backing to creeks and golf course. At least 60% of homes feed to best Plano schools. Homes are custom and not cookie cuter, lot sizes good, 3 side swing garages, mature landscaping, tree lined streets. Local elementary is awesome. Access to 121,190 & DNT is a breeze. TexasPresbyterian, Willobend Mall, Arbor Hills a Nature Reserve and Parr Library are minutes away. There is so much that can be done on foot, including shopping, dinning, doctors, pharmacy, dry cleaner, fast food, dentist, nail salon, hair salon, golf, church, tennis,ice cream and so much more. Only people who think its less prestigious then Willobend are people who don’t know the area. You get a lot of bang for your dollar.

    This is an awesome area, a hidden gem. Go drive around and find out for yourself. We just bought here and one thing we love most is friendly neighborhood feel.

  3. I wrote this post back in 2007, that was a long time ago. A lot has happened in real estate since 2008, we had the top and bottom. If you’re lucky enough to own property in the Midway Corridor, since 2007 property values have gone up about $15,000 on the median price point of homes. That’s a healthy 4.2% increase. Nice! The inventory is the lowest it’s ever been and homes are selling for premiums during this holiday season. Can’t wait till spring, prices will be going up more and more. I’m seeing this is all Midway Corridor Neighborhoods. The location has gotten more & more valuable!

  4. Midway corridor homes are smoking hot real estate now. With their location, West Plano schools and nearby employers, shopping, highways, dinning and entertainment plus additional benefit of being next door to North Dallas and airports, this area turned out to be the smartest investment in the area. Even homes feeding to Lewisville ISD turned out to be lucky with Hebron High’s good performance and proximity to elite private schools. Current economy boom really favored this location. It is hard to find homes here, Shoal Creek, Cypress Creek, Red Wolf Estates, Point West, Cypress Point, Kings Lake are some of the highest demand subdivisions. Prices went up in double digits and demand is unprecedented.

    You are so right West Plano real estate is Smoking Hot and has unprecedented demand! It’s all West Plano neighborhoods that are in high demand. Inventory is at a all time low. If every active listings sold in less than 30 days there would be no homes for sale! The announcement of Toyota, Fed-X and now possibly Liberty Mutual has jump started the whole area. Not to mention Nebraska Furniture Mart opening next month. Shops at Legacy town homes over 2000 sq ft are going for 400K to 480K, $100,000 more from last year. Crazy but true! We have many cash buyers ready to close but we need more homes for sale.

    Amen to that! Home values will fluctuate but I believe will go higher:)
